About EAA

After World War II a group of aviation enthusiasts in Milwaukee, WI under the leadership of Paul Poberezny petitioned the federal government to once again allow the construction of  home-built airplanes.  The experimental category already existed as each prototype aircraft design was licensed in that category before it completed its certification tests.

This organization, now world wide, is the Experimental Aircraft Association.  The EAA Chapter 274 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity.  Chapter 274 activities have grown year-by-year as the international fly-ins at Rockford, IL, and later at Oshkosh, WI have grown.  These yearly fly-ins have been the driving force behind our chapter growth.
